This past year has taught me more about appreciating what I have than any year prior. I have a list 100 long of things I appreciate; number one being my family and friends.
I guess the one thing I have come to appreciate most this past year specifically is my strength. One foot in front of the other, one day at a time I have made it through a year that has been emotionally my toughest one yet (well except maybe for 1995 but that is a different story for a different time).
Looking back it seems that 2010 was just a hard year for many people. The economy aside, I know two people (friends) who kicked cancer’s ass, three other people who were diagnosed with it and are still battling. This is to say it is all relative. Everyone has their story for 2010 and everyone I am sure can come up with a list of people they know who have had it worse and people they know who have had it better. That’s the thing there really is no “better” or “worse” life is relative. It is unique to you and to me.
So tangent aside, the one thing I have come to appreciate most is my resiliency? my strength? I certainly do not like drastic change. I am happiest in comfort but when life calls it, I can survive, and while I may grumble about it, I think I do OK.
