I am usually not an avid reader of period-piece books. I prefer things set post-1920’s or so. Someone recommended The Birth of Venus to me before I went to Italy last year; I read it in three days and loved it.

I just picked up another book by Sarah Dunant yesterday – Sacred Hearts – and I am 1/3 of the way through it; loving it as much as The Birth of Venus. I am not sure what it is about Sarah’s writing but there is so much emotion in each character and she writes it in a way that you, the reader FEELS it, without being incredibly wordy.

Next up on my reading list is  Sing you Home by Jodi Piccoult I have read every book of her’s and love them, even though they are a bit formulaic, and then Ape House by Sara Gruen.

What are you reading?

  1. I've been branching out of my normal genres of vampires, werewolves and ghosties lately. I just finished reading "Eat, Pray, Love" and was surprised at how much it 'spoke' to me. I'm currently reading "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but haven't gotten far enough in to make a judgement call. I've heard such good things, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
