For me the sun makes all the difference in the world. For some it might the mind over matter but for me it is sun over clouds. Warmth over cold.

I literally had to drag myself out of bed this morning. I am not sure what is going on but I have been exhausted lately in the mornings. It really is like raising the dead to get myself started in the morning. Once I get going I am fine.

This morning was gorgeous and I spent a few hours with another woman who volunteers at the kennel and who I really like, sitting in the grassy yard behind the kennel, watching dogs play. It was perfectly relaxing and fun. Afterward she and I grabbed lunch and then I headed home to grab Marley and my book and hang out in the sunshine in my parent’s back yard before the Father’s Day BBQ started.

I felt a little bad for my dad – he wasn’t feeling great – a head cold – and I think he would have preferred to sit in his chair and watch golf – instead of the chaos of the grandkids, and guests and BBQ-ing. But as always, he was a great sport about it all. I am so lucky to have such a great dad. Even as a grown adult his support and encouragement means a lot to me.

At some point in the day when I was reaching for my flip flop – I felt the dreaded back twinge and FROZE. I made it through the BBQ and came home to take a muscle relaxant and chill a bit before heading to bed.

Another great weekend. It’s gearing up to be a hot week later this week so I am glad I already have the AC in.

I didn’t “run a marathon, bike 100 miles, raise  $1,000 for charity, hang out with the Red Sox, or jet off to the Hamptons” but it was a really great down to earth, fun day!.
