It was an amazing weekend, but for now just the Ballet.
The Ballet was was AMAZING. I could not have ever expected to be so thrilled by the whole event. The Lincoln Center in NY is a spectacular site. The Lincoln Center is made up of three buildings : the Metropolitan Opera (the Opera), David H. Koch Theater (the Ballet), and Avery Fisher Hall (Philharmonic).
The performance was: Balanchine and Robbins: Masters at Work. It included the following ballets:
The Cage (Robbins/Stravinsky): by far, hands down my favorite for it’s intensity.
Andantino (Robbins/Tchaikovsky): the shortest of the four, nothing that took my breath away, fairly bland.
Symphony in C (Balanchine/Bizet) – a more classical ballet, simple exquisite.
A nice write up was done here in the performance of the 2nd ballet The Cage, which was my favorite of the evening.
Many more details to come. From how I learned all about the difference between The American Ballet Company and The New York City Ballet. I’m now reading Bravura: Lucia Chase and the American Ballet Theater.
